Dr. Robin Unger

Dr. Robin Unger is a hair restoration surgeon and founder whose New York City practice is exclusively dedicated to hair restoration. She is recognized as one of the respected specialists in the field and one of the few female surgeons performing hair transplantation for both men and women with hair loss.

Dr. Unger’s approach emphasizes natural cosmetic results, careful surgical planning, and highly personalized care. She operates on only one patient per day, allowing her to focus closely on every stage of the procedure, from hairline and recipient-zone design to donor excision, recipient-site creation, graft preparation, and placement.

Her practice treats pattern hair loss as well as hair loss related to surgical procedures and certain medical conditions, with restoration options for hairlines, crowns, temples, sideburns, and eyebrows. Previously, Dr. Unger worked alongside her father and mentor, Dr. Walter Unger, which allowed for ongoing surgical collaboration and refinement of technique.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Unger is committed to physician education and advancement of the specialty. She serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she teaches hair restoration surgery to residents and fellows from around the world.

Dr. Unger is an ABHRS Diplomate and ISHRS Fellow, and she has held leadership roles on the executive committee and board of governors of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. She is also a co-editor of Hair Transplantation, one of the field’s most comprehensive textbooks, and has authored numerous chapters and articles contributing to the advancement of hair restoration surgery.
